ACTING INTERNSHIP

Setzler Brown, M.D. - AI Director Institution: Palmetto Health Richland Location: Columbia, South Carolina Duration: 4 weeks Course Offered: Periods 1-9 Number of Students: Three Students Period 1, One Student Periods 2 through 9 Students Report To: Family Practice Center, 3209 Colonial Drive, (434-6116), Sixth Floor Administrative Conference Room, 8:30 a.m. Acting Interns function as primary physicians on the inpatient service, caring for patients admitted due to acute medical illnesses. Students will care for pediatric and adult patients in the intensive care units well as on the general wards. Students will provide call covering for six to eight nights per month. AIs will be under direct supervision of a senior resident and an attending physician. Educational opportunities will be provided via daily rounds and lectures, noon conferences, informal "patient interaction" presentations, etc. The large number of patients, the variety of pathology, and the close interaction with residents and faculty will maximize learning opportunities. |
