This acting internship will provide the student with experience in managing critically ill patients, as well as experience using the variety of equipment required for life support and monitoring. Emphasis is placed on understanding and correcting the underlying pathophysiologic mechanisms of acute cardiac and pulmonary disease. This rotation will offer the student clinical experience in intensive care medicine. In addition to daily rounds and patient care, the student will attend lectures on MICU-CCU topics as well as the other ongoing conferences in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Dorn Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
