Acting Interns function as primary physicians on the inpatient service, caring for patients admitted due to acute medical illnesses. Students will care for pediatric and adult patients in the intensive care units well as on the general wards. Students will provide daytime call (until checkout at 7:00 PM) six to eight times per month (approximately every third day). AIs will be under direct supervision of a senior resident and an attending physician. Educational opportunities will be provided via daily rounds and lectures, weekly didactics, informal "patient interaction" presentations, etc. The large number of patients, the variety of pathology, and the close interaction with residents and faculty will maximize learning opportunities
