The student will function as an "acting intern" in the pediatric intensive care unit. The purpose of the rotation is to allow students to establish a foundation for recognition, stabilization, triage, diagnosis, and treatment of seriously or critically ill pediatric patients. Education material is presented via bedside didactic rounds, guided reading, a web-based curriculum, and conferences.  Students will be expected to take five calls during the rotation.  Grades will be determined by faculty and resident evaluations and participation in small group sessions.
