Students Report To: Lovelace Family Medicine, P.A., Highway #76, Prosperity, South Carolina, 8:30 a.m.

Students/Residents will be allowed to function as independently as possible within the confines of a private practice. Students and residents can expect to gain further experience with office procedures, particularly obstetrical procedures including ultrasonography, and some surgical procedures (particularly c-sections and tubal ligations). Other procedures performed in the office setting include colposcopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy. They will also have an opportunity to learn about office management.

Students will evaluate patients in the office under the supervision of our physicians and will be expected to obtain the appropriate history and physical examination as well as to generate an assessment and plan prior to presentation to the physicians. Students will not be performing complete physical examinations but will be encouraged to "sit in" on several to help them develop their own approach for comprehensive health care. As much as possible students will be provided with a hands-on experience with regard to office procedures. Taking night call will be encouraged (frequency at the discretion of the student); this will certainly provide the opportunity for several deliveries as approximately 10 babies are delivered per month. Teaching will be case oriented with additional didactic sessions weekly. Residents or students will need transportation and we may be able to assist with housing if arrangements are made in advance.

Students and residents should report to Lovelace Family Medicine Center at 8:30 a.m. on the first day of their elective rotation. Our office is in Prosperity, S.C. on Hwy. 76. Take I-26 to the Prosperity Exit, turn left on Hwy. 773 and this will deadend into Hwy. 76. Turn right on Hwy. 76 and go approximately 3.5 miles, the office will be on your right.
