Acting interns function as members of the Ward team, and are partnered with a senior level medical resident.
Goals of the Rotation:

  1. To refine the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to excel in internship
  2. To understand, diagnose, and manage a wide range of illnesses encountered in the inpatient care of adult patients
  3. To assume increasing responsibility for the medical care of patients
  4. To interact effectively with other members of the inpatient medical team
  5. To develop a lifelong habit of self-directed learning and continued growth

 
Evaluation: The final grade is based on an A-F scale. The evaluation is competency based, with the competencies listed below being assessed:

    • Clinical decision making/problem solving skills
    • Case presentation (verbal and written)
    • Test selection and interpretation
    • Therapeutic decision making
    • Self directed learning
