This elective will consist of one month of out-patient dermatology. Students will observe the evaluation and treatment of patients. In the Teaching Pediatric and Adult Dermatology Clinics, students and residents will act as primary skin care providers under the direct supervision of Dr. Lynn   Here students will perform initial evaluation and assessment of each patient’s problem and will present each case to the attending.  

Discussion of differential diagnoses and treatments are the major didactic activity of this elective. Lectures will comprise approximately two hours per week per month. Patient contact will be approximately 40 hours. Patient contact includes rounds, discussions, and in-house consultations with the student expected to use the library for at least two hours per week.  

On completion of this elective, the student should be able to demonstrate competence in the execution and documentation of pertinent dermatologic history, physical examination, basic diagnostic procedures and therapy.
