The student will function as a member of an interdisciplinary team evaluating children and working with the parents of children having varied developmental problems. This rotation will provide the student with an opportunity to observe and interact with other professionals (psychologists, social workers, special educators, speech language pathologists, physical and occupational therapists, etc.), as they evaluate and plan treatment for children with a wide array of special needs. Some time will also be spent visiting and learning about community resources available to children with special problems.

1. Goal: To familiarize the student with the team approach to evaluating children with a wide variety of developmental problems.
Objective: The student will participate as the medical/pediatric professional on an interdisciplinary team.

2. Goal: The student will become familiar with the broad array of developmental problems in children and young adults.
Objective: The student will see children and young adults with various developmental disabilities and special needs and be provided with appropriate reading materials.

3. Goal: The student will become familiar with community resources available for people with disabilities and special needs.
Objective: The student will visit public and private programming centers for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
