This elective is designed for the student who desires exposure to pediatric cardiology in a community setting. Experience will be gained in inpatient and outpatient care. The student will participate in daily rounds and teaching conferences. Emphasis will be placed on interview techniques, parenting concepts, principles of preventive cardiology and the diagnosis, differential diagnosis, appropriate use of laboratory studies, treatment principles and follow-up care of common problems in pediatric cardiology. There will also be an opportunity to visit satellite offices in Greenwood, Anderson and Spartanburg.
