Administration of Step 2 of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) has been administered via computer since the fall of 1999. Each student is expected to complete an application with the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) for Step 2 at the beginning of the fall semester of the M-IV year in sufficient time to request a test date on or before October 15 in order to ensure a test date by October 31. Completion of the USCSM Step 2, USMLE requirement in the fall of 2006 rather than in the spring of 2007 greatly reduces the risk to the student in terms of his/her graduation from USCSM and the beginning of residency training.
